Producer Profile
Valdeir Dalcin Tomazini is a third generation farmer, the great-grandson of the first farmers to work their land in Bateia, Castelo, Espirito Santo. The Tomazini family—Valdeir, his wife Maria, and his children Aline Abner—run their farm, Sitio Tomazini at 900 - 1,200 masl. The family started producing specialty semi-washed coffee in 2001. In fact, they were one of the first in the region to adopt quality focused standards. Sitio Tomazini has more than 22,000 trees, and they produce 250 bags per year, about a third of which are specialty quality. By Brazilian standards, this is a small farm.

For best results we recommend resting your filter coffee for two to three weeks post-roast before brewing.
Located in southeastern Brazil, Espirito Santo is characterized by cool average temperatures and a long, misty wet season that slows cherry maturation. Here, coffee is harvested later than in the rest of Brazil, with picking taking place between October-November. Also in contrast to the rest of Brazil, washed processing is predominant in Espirito Santo, which contributes to the unique flavour profiles coming out of the region.
ICatucai is a cross between Catuai and Icatu, developed by the Brazilian Coffee Institute, starting in 1988. There are different Catucai cultivars that can develop either red or yellow cherries. Catucai is moderately resistant to Coffee Leaf Rust.
